This allows them to avoid patent trouble with Microsoft, but it also reduces the "perfect" ergonomic fit of the Microsoft mouse to merely a "good" ergonomic layout. While they are no longer produced, Logitech makes a very similar design (check out Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball and similar devices) which moves the location of the trackball slightly. It places a trackball under your thumb, making for incredibly ergonomic mousing. The best mousing trackball device I ever found was the Microsoft Trackball Mouse.

The trackball doesn't have to be a big trackball. I've found that using a trackball type device allows me to mouse much longer with less issues from usage compared to a standard mouse.

A shame the cursor's actual size seems to be hardcoded, but having an outline makes it much easier to follow.I've long had issues with my wrists. Any sort of mod to expand the cursor would be immensely appreciated because of this.ĮDIT: I found a replacement cursor that's actually highlighted. In a heated battle, it's very easy for the cursor's position to get so far afield that it can even cause me to start activating hotbar items on accident or cause me to click out-of-window onto my second monitor. It's even more of a nightmare when I'm doing any sort of flight-based combat, since enemies will often change from one side of the screen to the other from me quickly, as well as shift from being above me to below me. If it's close to my character, a tiny movement is sufficient if it's all the way over to the left, it has to go a lot further. I might be shooting my shots far left when I want to aim more upwards, for example, but the amount of up I need to give my aim to get that result depends immensely on how far left my cursor is. Tracking the cursor by where you're aiming only works so well when you have a resolution this high and a cursor that tiny.
